I'm so excited to be posting first looks at my new sets coming out this Thursday, April 10th in the Avery Elle store! The first set I want to share is the new Red & Goldie stamp set and coordinating dies:) These sets just make me smile! Now, this is unlike any I've ever designed before. The theme was inspired by my nieces (age 2 and 5) who love all things fairy tale (naturally). This set features Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, and a couple of friends;) These designs started off as a few hand drawn figures. With the help of my son, Brady, who has been doing pen and ink drawings and converting them to digital since he was little, it evolved into this...
That Goldilocks stamp just makes me smile! I colored her and her little bear buddy with Copics (even added some freckles with a black pen). I die cut the sentiment and put a bit of gold thread behind it (that's something I learned from my pal, Wida at Beachorado). BTW, the floral paper is something from Dear Lizzy that I've been hoarding forever.
Here's another simple card using the Red Riding Hood stamp with an old Avery Elle set, Winter Wreath. I really like the look of sentiments cut out, so the coordinating dies includes a die for the "Hello" and "Happy Birthday" sentiments. You can see how I've used it here...
I colored Red with Copics (so much fun!) and I even gave her hood some cute little polka dots with a white pen. I love these open images! They are so much fun to color and paper piece!
Now my next set is a standalone die set called Custom Panels! This one should be no surprise to anyone:) The idea behind this set came about 4 months ago when I tried to find a die that would cut a rectangle to fit an A2 card front (basically a 5-1/2" X 4-1/4" rectangle). I frequently cut panels this size to make reverse die cut cards, shaker cards, and raised panel cards. I was very surprised to find out that it didn't exist! So here we are:) Of course, to go with the panel die, I've added edger dies and other little elements to truly customize your panels:)
Here's a card I made using this new die set. There are actually 2 panels in this card, one with the sentiment and the other is the vellum layer. I used the arc/rounded die to create a round edge to the the honeycomb vellum layer. The card stock panel has the sentiment but it also hides where I attached the vellum panel. I really enjoy using these types of dies that allow you to do multiple techniques. They may not be the center of the design, but they really add to the overall effect.
Here's a little closer view of the vellum panel...
