Hi guys! How about a sweet floral card with a lovely sentiment? For my card today I used the Avery ElleGet Well stamp set and matching die. Isn't the font of the sentiment beautiful? I did a partial cut of the flower bouquet and then use my curved die (from the Custom Panels set) to do a rounded cutaway. Behind the partial die cut I used some striped paper from the Happy Collection paper pad. I never seem to get tired of that beautiful pink coral color and it seemed appropriate for a "feel better" card:)
Hi everyone! Just sharing a Paper Smooches card today:) This card uses the Shoes dies set. What better way to use this set than to make a whole closet full of shoes? Do you know someone who has this kind of closet (or maybe it's you;)? Each shoe is die cut and inlaid into the die cut panel. (Just a tip, use a ruler under the dies to make sure they are all lined up) It was so much fun to use all my patterned papers to create my shoes!
For some of the shoes, I used my embossing folders/plates to create some texture (see the purple and teal loafers and the boot?). I even heat embossed the black slingback pump with clear embossing powder for a shiny look. Here's a little view from the side so you can really see the fun textures.

Now check this out! So feathers are like snowflakes, right? No two the same:) So with that in mind, I made this card with the new Feathers 2 dies. This set has 4 different feathers in various sizes. The scale of these feathers are not too big and not too little. I used them to create a cascading design and then made one feather a shaker! (shocker, I know, lol)
I filled my feather shaker with sequins, stars, small hexagon glitter, and large hexagon glitter. Mixing up the fillers tends to make them more sticky and they don't all fall to the bottom. I love the colorful mix!

So I used my set of pens for this little number. Instead of using my markers to color an image, I thought I'd try something a bit more abstract. I love how the markers give the stamped images texture and depth!

Hello, hello, hello everyone! I had such a good weekend and I even had time to squeeze in a new technique:) Like a lot of folks out there, I've been playing around with foil and my heat laminator. This is *not* that post, lol! Instead, I've been playing with an alternative use for that heat laminator. I took advantage of the heat of the laminator and decided to laminate crayons! Well, slivers of crayons at least. I used my microplane to grate crayons into a laminating pouch before running it through the machine. The resulting "paper" is perfect for die cutting and backgrounds. For this card, I use a large piece inside a die cut aperture.
It's hard to really capture the soft beauty of the melted wax, but here's a close up..
For the card, I die cut a piece of the same laminated "paper" with a butterfly die. Then I layered the butterfly on some vellum. I wish I knew how to get better pics of this. The color is just so soft and pretty!
After some experimentation, here are my suggestions if you want to try this technique out for yourself: 1) Resist the urge to load up with the grated crayons. A little really goes a long way since the wax really thins out when it's melted. 2) Don't use too many colors. Similar colors blend well, but too many colors can start to get brown/muddy. If you want to use many different colors, space them out over the pouch. 3) Use the 3 mil pouches. For this technique to work best, you want the contents of the pouch to heat up. The 5 mil pouches are a bit too thick. If you want to see how I created the laminated wax "paper" that I used in the cards above, check out this video...

Happy Friday folks! I have 2 cards to share with you today that were recently on the Paper Smooches blog:) My first card uses a technique that I've used lots of times in the past, stacked stamping! [For those of you who are not familiar with this technique, here's a tutorial] Usually stacked stamping can be a bit tricky since you have to stamp the same set of images twice. This is especially tricky with multiple colors. But this time I had the help of my MISTI (check out this post here for thoughts on the MISTI). I stamped the butterflies twice onto 2 separate panels and then cut out the Happy Birthday die from one of the panels. Then I attached the die cut word over the other stamped panel using foam tape. Here's a tip for you, do not weed your die cut word completely. If you keep the pieces inside the open spaces and loops, it makes it much more easy to place foam tape on the back of the word die. Fun right?
For this next card, I used the Mini Cupcake dies to create this pastel, triple scoop ice cream cone! Not that I don't love a cupcake, but who doesn't love ice cream;) The cone was just made from a triangle piece of card stock that I scored for that waffle cone look. Aren't those sprinkles so cute?

Hello, hello! I've been MIA for a couple weeks (Spring Break will do that to a gal), but I'm back with 2 fun Avery Elle cards! The first one uses the sentiment set, Amazing. I love the oversized scale of these stamps! I really wanted to concentrate on that lovely font, so I stamped my sentiment and misted it with 4 different colors. Then I layered it up over vellum and my favorite b/w striped paper. For a card with so much going on, everything seems to work together:)
My second card uses the set Humble Pie. I used one of the cute little pie stamps to create a welcome to the neighborhood card. [Full disclosure...I am not a baker. I am, however, a pretty good shopper and have been known to bring over some purchased baked goods;)] By the way, the berry-colored papers is from from the Harvest Collection paper pad (color is Vino).
Hi guys! I have a fun little treat holder for you today that I made with the new Avery ElleFurry Friends set and Treat Topper die. When I first got the Treat Topper die, my first thought was of a gingerbread house. So while I was daydreaming about all the little houses I could make with this die, I thought why not a little doghouse for the cute puppies in the Furry Friends set:) The base of the house is just a rectangle that I scored and folded around the treat bag. I even made a little doggie door with one of the dies from the Bottle It Up set. What other kinds of little house treat holders would you like to try?
