Waffle Flower December 2020 Release Blog Hop

Welcome to Waffle Flower’s Slimlines & Alphabets Release day! This month, Waffle Flower is looking towards the new year with 4 stamp sets, 4 dies, 2 alpha die sets, and 4 stencils! All of the products from this month’s release are already waiting for you on the website here!

For the floral lovers out there, Waffle Flower has the beautiful set Tender Blooms (stampdiecombo) and coordinating sentiment set Tender Thoughts (stamp). These sets are just what you need to create cards of comfort, sympathy, and care. (We all could use more of that, wouldn’t you agree?) For stamps, there’s also the New Beginning stamp and stencil (stampstencilcombo) that can be used independently or together to make cards for the new year and fresh beginnings!

This month, Waffle Flower’s release also includes everybody’s new obsession, slimline dies! There’s the Slim Lacy Layers (die), Slimline Window Trio (die), Slimline Stripes (die), and the Slimline Angled Panel (die). If you’re a fan of the slimline card, you’ll have lots to choose from!

If you’re looking to up your sentiment game, Waffle Flower is rolling out two new alpha die sets and a fun stamp/die set of sentiment add-ons! The Bold Alpha Die set (die) is a classic block alpha set and includes a full set of letters and numbers! The second alpha die set, the Wide Alpha Die set (die), has a different profile (wider and shorter) that is ideal for stacking and for larger slimline cards. To pair with the new alpha dies, there’s the fun Sentiment Additions Stamp Set (stampdiecombo). This set has words and phrases that can be used with letter dies, word dies, and other sentiments. Great for bringing new life to dies and stamps you already have!

Last but not least, Waffle Flower has added the Stripe Plaids Trio (stencil), Buffalo Plaid Stencil (stencil), and Infinite Triangles Stencil (stencil) to their growing stencil collection. Each of the stencils in the Stripe Plaids Trio and Buffalo Plaid Stencil sets can be used alone or together to create a variety of striped and plaid patterns in your choice of colors. The best part is that these plaid stencils measure 6”X9” and can be used on A2, A7, and slimline cards! If you’re a fan of repeating pattern stencils (like last month’s Rings Builder and Infinite Petals), the Infinite Triangles Stencil can also make multiple patterns just by rotating the stencil or flipping it  over.

To see all these new goodies in action, hop along with us! Everyone’s got some fun and creative ideas to share and get your imagination flowing!

First up is a quick card I made with the Slimline Angled Panel Die! This die is just like the original Angled Panel die just in slimline size. It's the same scale as the original so that means it also works with the diagonal striped papers in the JJ's Rainbow pad and Christmas Stripes pad. For this card, I used the JJ's Rainbow paper behind the die cut.

The sentiment on this one uses the new Wide Alpha die and the Sentiment Additions combo. The profile of the wide alphas work great on the expanded slimline size. The "forever" sentiment is from the Sentiment Additions set. I love how the flowy font works with the block die cut letters!

This next card uses the Stripe Plaids Trio stencil set. This set has 3 different patterns including this one with the triple stripes. I like that these stencils measure 6"X9" so they work where stamps (A2, A7, and slimline cards). And as you can see, they work on a diagonal too!

To add a bit of shine, I die cut the stenciled panel with 2 square nesting dies to create the negative "frame" with some gold glitter paper. The sentiment is from the Herringbone Sentiment set and it's stamped on a label from the Classic Frames die set. This is a holiday card, but I can definitely see it for lots of other occasions!

My last card today uses the same Stripe Plaids Trio stencil set as the last card. I used the other two stencils in the set, the wide stripe and the narrow stripe. I love how the stripes look on kraft! I used a white pigment ink and blended very lightly to get a softer look.

The sentiment is from the Merry Christmas combo and added a couple die cuts from the Holiday Lights die. I can't wait to try plaids on other color cardstocks!

That's it for me today! Thanks so much for stopping by! There's a bunch of amazing folks on the blog hop today and you're not going to want to miss it! Next on the hop is the always fantastic Laura Bassen but here's the full list for you!

This month’s Waffle Flower release is all about creativity boosters! For many of us, time in the craftroom is all about clearing the mind and recharging! With that goal in mind, Waffle Flower packed this release full of stencils and silhouettes designed to feed your imagination! This month marks the first stencil release for Waffle Flower! For the artsy types, there’s the Ink Spots Stencil (stencil, bundle), Paint Strokes Stencil (stencil, bundle), and Inky Stripes Stencil (stencil, bundle).

If you’re more a fan of clean and geometric backgrounds, there are 3 builder stencils from cardmaker JJ Bolton: Stripes Builder Stencil (stencil, bundle), Infinite Petals Stencil (stencil, bundle), and Infinite Rings Builder Stencil duo (stencil, bundle). For the lovers of cute and whimsical, there’s Keeway’s Grass Scene Stencil (stencil, bundle), Mountain Scene Stencil (stencil, bundle), and Sky Scene Stencil (stencil, bundle) designed by beloved DT member and cardmaker extraordinaire Keeway Tsao. Just in time for the holidays, there are the Merry Bow Stencil (stencil) and Pine Trees (stencil). Last but not least, everyone could use the new Spotlight stencils series that includes the Spotlight Circle Stencil (stencil, bundle), Spotlight Square Stencil (stencil, bundle), and Spotlight Star Stencil (stencil, bundle). This is just the start of the stencils line for Waffle Flower! You’ll definitely be seeing lots more stencils in future monthly releases!

On the stamp side, the November release stamps sets all have something in common, beautiful and creative silhouettes! These silhouette sets include the classic Herb Silhouettes Stamp Set (stamp), festive Spotlight Holiday Elements Stamp Set (stamp), and unique Power Lines Stamp Set (stamp) by cardmaker JJ Bolton.

Last on the release list this month is a new type of combo, the stencil-n-stamp. Stencils are used to create larger elements and the coordinating stamps add focal points and fine details. Waffle Flower’s first stencil-n-stamp is the adorable Fall for You by artist Cassie Loizeaux (stencil-n-stamp).

We hope you’re ready to see some of these goodies in action! There’s a full lineup of guest designers and team members in today’s Blog Hop! We hope you find some ideas that spark your creativity!

Today, I've got a collection of cards using the Power Lines Stamp Set. I'm going to admit that this set may not be for everyone out there, but for those cardmakers who love to make backgrounds, this one is so much fun! This set is a true scene builder set with images of power lines and birds. These power lines scenes are popular with watercolor fans because they're all about the background. So today, I've got 4 different backgrounds that I created with these stamps.

This first one is done on a watercolored background. I put masking tape around a watercolor paper panel and painted a very loose sunset scene. I stamped the telephone poles over it with Versafine ink (so dark and great for this application). The set comes with the power lines, but for this card, I just drew in the lines with a thin Sharpie and ruler. I added a couple of birds and a sentiment, and this CAS card was done.

This next card has a blended ink background using Distress Inks and Keeways's Sky Scene Stencil for the clouds. This card uses the power line stamps instead of the drawn in lines. I added a bit of splattered water and diluted white acrylic paint to finish.

For this version, I hand painted a very simple background with gouache paints. These paints are water-based and more opaque than water colors. I love how the gouache gives the background a more flat design look.

My last version is just a straight blended ink background. I used Distress Inks (Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry, and Dusty Concord). Blending ink is one of my favorite things to do! Such a simple technique, but the colors you can create are so deep.

That's it for me today! Thanks so much for stopping by! Here's the links for the whole release hop! This month, we've got a ton of awesome guest designers joining the DT and I'm so excited to see what they have to share! The always wonderful Keeway is next on the hop, but here's the whole list in case.

Waffle Flower October 2020 Release Blog Hop

Welcome to Waffle Flower’s October 2020 Release day! All of the products from this month’s release are waiting for you on the website here

October is the best of both worlds where we’re enjoying the beauty of fall while the excitement of the coming holidays is building! To celebrate this magical time of year, Waffle Flower is so excited to be releasing 6 new stamp sets, 8 standalone dies, and a new paper release!

For the autumn-lovers out there, we’ve got the beautiful Layered Sunflowers (stamp, die, combo) by a newcomer Susan Bates and the charming Pumpkin House (stamp, die, combo) by artist Cassie Loizeaux!

If you’re already diving into the holidays, we’ve got the adorable Holiday Cheese (stamp, die, combo) by Big Bear and Bird and versatile Merry Christmas (stamp, die, combo)! We’ve also got the Christmas Tree Panel (die), Winter Floral Panel (die), and Big Dots Holiday (stamp) by cardmaker JJ Bolton!

Speaking of the holidays, this month includes the holiday paper release! This release includes the holiday patterns: Happy Gnomes (paper), Christmas Stripes (paper), Half-Half Dots - Christmas (paper), and Half-Half Lines - Christmas (paper) and a new modern fall palette called Caprice: Half-Half Dots - Caprice (paper) and Half-Half Lines - Caprice (paper).

Rounding out the release are some versatile stamps and dies to use all year long! The new Angled Stripe Panel (die), Diagonal Stripes (die), Deckled Frames (die), Essential Sentiments (stamp, die, combo), Happy Birthday Word (die), and Stitched Borders (die) will definitely get some regular usage in your crafty rotation. Last but not least, there’s the Floss Organizers (die) for our thread artists.

The Waffle Flower design team is so excited to share the October release with you today! We hope you find something that sparks your imagination and brings you joy!

I got lucky this month and found some extra time to work with all the new release goodies! So I hope you don't mind the extra long post today! Let's dive into with the holiday cards first! Holiday cards are one of my favorite types of cards to make. Even though I'm a CAS gal at heart, I can honestly say I love every type of holiday card out there. Even rainbow ones;) This first card today uses the Christmas Tree Panel Die with the Merry Christmas Sentiments Set with some colorful paper from the JJ's Rainbow paper pad. This panel die is such an easy way to make a glittery shaker card!

This next Christmas card uses one of my favorites this month, the Winter Floral Panel Die. The design is kind of a modern take on a folk art flower design and I love how it works as a shaker!

The round frame is from the previously released Classic Frames Die set and the sentiment is from the Classic Holiday Sentiments set. This panel has an extra element of fun with die cuts within die cuts like the petal pieces below.

I was in a shaker kind of mood because I've got one more Christmas shaker using the Angled Panel Die. So technically, the Angled Panel Die is not a holiday die, but when you use it to create a see-through shaker, it kinda is;)!  I put two of the Angled Panel dies back to back to create a card you can see all the way through. As an added bonus the panels make a fun diamond pattern when they are layered like this!

To finish the card, I added a single piece of red card stock for the back of the card. I chose red so that the shaker would really stand out against the Christmas red. The final step was to add 3 round frames: one on the front with the sentiment, one on the backside of the card front (to cover up the sentiment frame), and one on the red back panel. From the front you can only see the sentiment frame. The clean and modern sentiment is from the Big Dots Holiday Sentiments set.

The last holiday card I have for you today uses the leftover die cuts from the first card I shared today. The mini trees work perfectly as embellishments in the previously released Big Dots Panel die. I used another sentiment from the Big Dots Holiday stamp set for this one.

I also wanted to share some non-holiday cards for you today. This next one uses the Diagonal Stripes Die with the previously released Star Panel and Happy Retirement stamp. I've had a version of this card in my head for so long and I knew the diagonal stripes was perfect for the look I wanted. Super crisp and clean!

Before I go, I want to share one last card I made using the Deckled Frames dies. I love the look of the uneven edges and they work so well with natural elements like flowers and leaves. So naturally, I paired with with some die cuts using the previously released Sprigs dies. I used some of the soft pastel papers in the Unicorn paper pad and a sentiment from the Rainbow Bridge set. I love how the organic frames, soft colors, and natural elements just flow together!

Whew! Thanks for hanging in there with me today!  Here's the links for the whole release hop! This month, we're so lucky to have some wonderful guests on our hop in addition to the awesome DT!  The fabulous Maria is next on the hop, but here's the whole list in case.
