Avery Elle December/January Release Blog Hop

Good morning folks!!  I'm here this lovely winter day for the Avery Elle December/ January Release Blog Hop!  Have you been checking out the previews on the Avery Elle blog?  Then you know this is a big release!  I have to say there's something in this release for everyone:)  Today, I'm working with the new die set, Pinked Elle-ments Dies!  This is one of those sets that can go anywhere.  It's so versatile, it even made me forget about cards (at least for one day;)...

Now call me crazy, but when I looked at this set, I saw pasta!  Felt pasta!  We have some teenies in our family and I love making them homemade gifts.  Nothing says love from Auntie JJ like a handmade gift:)  This set was just PERFECT for making felt pasta.

The pinked circle and pinked square dies make great ravioli and bowtie pasta.  As you can see, I did regular, spinach, and squash pasta;)  For the ravioli, just cut two pieces, stuff with a little pillow filler (or scrap felt), and sew up.  For the bowtie, I just cut a square, folded it, and then tacked down the middle.  This is a great project for any level of sewist (I hate the word "sewers", lol!).

I put all my little yummies into a muslin bag that I gussied up with a label.  I couldn't resist using "Auntie Pasta";)  To make my label, I used the large pinked rectangle and cut out letters with the new Avery's Alpha Dies.  I used Aleene's glue for the letters.  This glue works really, really well with felt.  And the dies cut felt like butter!

And to end this post, here's the teenies that inspired this play food and will be getting "Auntie Pasta"!

My lovely teamies have some fantastic projects!  Go check them out now!

  11. I love your "auntie pasta". And it makes me chuckle, too. I've made felt food before for my nieces and these dies sure make quicker work than cutting all the squares out with pinking shears. ANd the bowtie pasta is genius. And this fabulous gift couldn't be going to more darling little girls.

  15. Oh my word, I don't know what I'm more impressed with ... the perfectly shaped felt pasta, or your clever take on the name! It's a toss-up, they're both out-of-this-world fun. My 6 year old son still plays with pretend food. It's really the only toy from his baby years that he still plays with. Your nieces should get lots of use out of your pasta!
